Speckle Noise Reduction in Medical Ultrasound Images
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ultrasound imaging is an incontestable vital tool for diagnosis, it provides in non-invasive manner the internal structure of the body to detect eventually diseases or abnormalities tissues. Unfortunately, the presence of speckle noise in these images affects edges and fine details which limit the contrast resolution and make diagnostic more difficult. In this paper, we propose a denoising approach which combines logarithmic transformation and a non linear diffusion tensor. Since speckle noise is multiplicative and nonwhite process, the logarithmic transformation is a reasonable choice to convert signaldependent or pure multiplicative noise to an additive one. The key idea from using diffusion tensor is to adapt the flow diffusion towards the local orientation by applying anisotropic diffusion along the coherent structure direction of interesting features in the image. To illustrate the effective performance of our algorithm, we present some experimental results on synthetically and real echographic images.

Speckle Noise Reduction for the Enhancement of Retinal Layers in Optical Coherence Tomography Images
Introduction One of the most important pre-processing steps in optical coherence tomography (OCT) is reducing speckle noise, resulting from multiple scattering of tissues, which degrades the quality of OCT images. Materials and Methods The present study focused on speckle noise reduction and edge detection techniques. Statistical filters with different masks and noise variances were applied on ...

Medical practitioners are increasingly using digital images during disease diagnosis several state-of-the-art medical equipments are producing images of different organs, which are used during various stages of analysis. Examples of such devices include MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-Ray. In medical image processing, image denoising has become a very essential exercise all through the diagnose becau...
متن کاملSpeckle Noise Reduction in Ultrasound Images
Ultrasound imaging is a widely used medical imaging modality because it is safe, allows real-time visualization of moving structures, and is relatively inexpensive. But the major issue with ultrasound images is the presence of speckle noise, which is an inherent limitation of ultrasound images. Various filters are used to reduce the speckle noise and to enhance the quality of the image. This wo...
متن کاملSpeckle Noise Reduction in Ultrasound Images- A Review
Ultrasound imaging is a widely used and safe medical diagnostic technique, due to its non-invasive nature, low cost and capability of forming real time imaging. Ultrasound imaging uses high-frequency sound to image internal structures by differing reflection signals produced when a beam of sound is projected into the body and bounces back at interfaces between the structures. However the useful...
متن کاملNonsubsampled contourlet transform based spatially adaptive shrinkage for speckle reduction of medical ultrasound image
Speckle is a multiplicative noise that degrades ultrasound images. In this paper, a statistical spatially adaptive approach for speckle reduction in medical ultrasound images based posterior conditional means (PCM) estimation in the nonsubsampled contourlet domain is proposed. In this framework, a new class of statistical model for nonsubsampled contourlet coefficients is proposed. And the prop...
متن کاملComparative Approach for Speckle Reduction in Medical Ultrasound Images
Medical images are often deteriorated by noise due to various sources of interferences and other phenomena that affect the measurement processes in an imaging and acquisition system. Speckle noise is a random mottling of the image with bright and dark spots, which obscures fine details and degrades the detectability of low-contrast lesions. Speckle noise occurrence is often undesirable, since i...
